Murdaugh: Fate of Moselle Road property is in courts hands

Disgraced and disbarred South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh is set to stand trial next week over the murders of his wife, Maggie and son, Paul. The two were found shot dead at their Colleton County property back in 2021.

Maggie and Paul Murdaugh are not the only ones who met an untimely end at 4147 Moselle Road. In 2018, Maggie herself called 911 reporting that their housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield, had fallen at the property. She did not survive.

The fate of the Moselle Road property is now in the hands of the court.

The property was listed for sale in February 2022. The listing states, "This is truly a top-tier property, complete with all the improvements and amenities one would expect from a high-end sporting property with little or no deferred maintenance cost."

According to the website where the property is listed, 4147 Moselle Road is "under contract." This means an offer on the property has been accepted.

The question remains — where will the money from the sale go?

You may remember, one year after Gloria Satterfield died, 19-year-old Mallory Beach was killed in a boat crash in Beaufort County. Investigators said Paul Murdaugh was the one driving the boat. They claimed he was well over the legal limit.

In a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Beach's family, they list members of the Murdaugh family as defendants.

The family recently reached a potential settlement. If approved by a judge, the settlement would require the personal representative of Maggie Murdaugh's estate, John Marvin Murdaugh, to sell assets like the Moselle Road property.

The proceeds from the sale would go directly, in part, toward the settlement.

A judge is expected to issue a ruling on the settlement by Tuesday.
